The MSIA is governed by a volunteer 17 member Board of Managers. The Board reflects the diversity of our organization: manufacturing, education, government, energy, food, consumer products, and health care are typically represented on the Board at any given time. We have ongoing liaisons with group self-insurance companies, the Michigan Manufacturers Association, and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. Third-party administrators of self-insureds also participate in the MSIA’s activities, as well as employers who are technically “insured” but retain high deductibles.
Tara Albaugh is the Health & Safety Specialist for Kellogg’s Battle Creek manufacturing facility. In her current role, Tara manages workers’ compensation claims, promotes and manages employee health and wellness, and coordinates OSHA-mandated medical surveillance. Tara previously worked in Kellogg Corporate Risk Management as a Workers’ Compensation Administrator, overseeing Kellogg’s national workers’ compensation program and processes at a corporate level.
Tara’s work experience outside of Kellogg includes roles in Occupational Health Nursing and Case Management. Tara graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She is designated as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses, and as a Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional by Michigan State University’s School of Labor & Industrial Relations.
